Introducing... Captain Australia!!!

As a big fan of comic book and graphic novel adaptions, I must admit I am not looking very much forward to the impending release of Captain America.

As an Australian I just can’t relate to Captain America, and so whereas Thor, or Iron Man or Green Lantern gets me excited, Captain America is the equivalent of a lukewarm cup of tea – very underwhelming.

So, in response to this I’ve decided to introduce you to Captain Australia. In all honesty, I’m too lazy to see if someone else has already introduced Captain Australia to the world, so let’s just say my Captain Australia is a different one altogether ^-~

Captain Australia

And now, a little about Captain Australia:

He will always be your designated driver, or pick you up from the local after a few too many beers.

He will always be there for you with a replacement gas bottle when you run out of gas for the Barbi.

He will always have the correct anti-venom on hand when you are bitten by anything poisonous
(read, every single living thing in Australia).
He will distract your Missus when you stumble home drunk,
even though you told her you were working late at the office that night.

He will protect your baby from Dingoes.

He will ensure Australia always beats England in the Ashes.

A Promise...

I promise to post something tonight!! I'm half way through it, but it's anther one of my illustrated posts as opposed to a comic or anything else that's easy peasy.

Also, given it's a three-day weekend this weekend (Labour day in QLD) I shall update with at least TWO!!!!!! comics ^.^

If I don't keep my word, and if I break my promise, I assure you that Boyfriend will be shaking his almighty fist and doing this face ->   -.-   whilst witholding any alcoholic beverages from me until I finish everything.

Redefining Evil

Why I Hate Job Hunting.

I’m relatively lucky in the fact that when I move to Sydney in 69 days my current work will be transferring me to their Sydney office. This is a huge relief to Boyfriend and myself as it means I don’t have to go through the stressful nature of job hunting.

The worst aspect of job hunting is that it’s rare to hear back from potential employers in a timely manner, if at all, if you were unsuccessful with your application. Also, it can take up to a month to hear from a potential employee if you application was successful and they want to meet with you for an interview.

Over two months ago I was searching for a short term contract as I knew about the impending move interstate mid-year.

This morning I received a reply in regards to one of the many contracts I applied for OVER TWO MONTHS AGO!!!!

To me, slow responses to applications is a surefire sign of incompetence and bad management and it makes me quite glad I wasn’t successful and that I will never have to work for such a badly organized company, and as such I encourage myself to reply to notices liek that I received today, with the below:

Game of Thrones: A Review

So, apparently in the world of Westeros the only sexual position known is "Doggy Style"

Despite it all, I love him.

Boyfriend is an Engineer.

When we first started dating he didn’t understand why I felt uncomfortable with him wearing blue tee shirts, and why I screamed with despair and heartache if he ever so much as thought about wearing a red shirt.

But I don't want you to die!!!
However, this confusion over what coloured clothing Boyfriend could or could not wear was directly linked to me being raised on a healthy diet of Star Trek: the Next Generation. Growing up watching TNG which was filled with Engineers, I somehow came to believe that all Engineers watched TNG. After all, any girl that wanted to be a princess would watch Disney movies, so it only makes sense that any child wanting to be an engineer would watch Star Trek!

Boyfriend proved this wrong, dramatically, not only with his choice of colours he likes to wear but also his choice of entertainment.

He doesn’t like Science Fiction.

This made role play rather… awkward.
I managed to convince him to watch Battlestar Gallactica, but we only got part way through season one. Firefly met the same fate. I did manage to get him to watch the Star Trek movie released in 2009 (which was released in Australia on my birthday! Best. Present. Ever.). When I discovered that TNG is currently showing on TV on Thursday nights, he ran away and locked himself in our spare room and played his guitars to drown out my pleas.

He refuses to watch Labyrinth with me.

He wears makeup, tights, kidnaps small children, and sings a lot, yet every female I know wants him... Go figure.
And despite the fact I bought him a ticket to SupaNova (think ComicCon but small and Australian) he flat out refused to go, even when tempted with the idea of all the gorgeous girls running around in  sexy cosplay outfits.

I’ve realized there isn’t really a caboose to my train of thought in regards to this subject other than the fact that preconceptions based upon childhood experiences of a person when going into a relationship can have more tragic outcomes than one could ever dream of.

After all, I know he’ll never propose because of this:

Thoughts for Thursday

I really wish all the blogs I’d like to follow had the “Follow This Blog!!!! ^.^” option on their home page. This would save me the two minutes it takes me to manually follow them through my profile.
The other day I made a discovery (through my friend Katie “liking” their Facebook page) a cosmetics company called Geek Chic Cosmetics which offers up a wonderful range of geek inspired mineral cosmetics which are wonderfully priced.
Given that I need new foundation as I’m currently using L’oreal Mineral Foundation and finding it absolutely horrible and considering that GCC is mineral and thus friendly for the skin I think a $1 sample will be sufficient for me to figure out whether the brand is worth the time and trouble of purchasing overseas again (I have currently banned myself from any international purchases).

The other 15 samples I plan to buy are justified by the fact it’s my birthday soon and I like shiny things.
Afterall, who doesn’t like shiny things?
23 days until my birthday.
74 days until we move.
But who's counting?

Sucker Punch: A Review

Are the Tomb Raider films sexist?

What about the Resident Evil films?

How about Black Swan or any other dance film?

No?

Then why the hell are people saying Sucker Punch is sexist?!

Five young girls running around wearing skimpy clothing whilst killing monsters, or wearing skimpy clothing whilst dancing, is not something I consider sexist. Especially considering the three films mentioned above exhibit the exact same behavior and one out of three is considered an Oscar worthy performance.

Seriously, How is dancing to Tchaikovsky in a leotard whilst battling inner demons, any different from dancing to Bjork whilst battling inner demons with cool CGI?

Neither are sexist nor demeaning to females and feminism.

Anyway, I saw the film, I didn’t entirely enjoy it as I felt it was rather flat throughout and that there should have been more explosions and dragons and it was a bit too Steam Punkish for me, but all in all, It’s nothing to go crying about due to sexism or whatever.

If you want a good popcorn flick and to look at pretty girls and listen to a pretty damned good soundtrack, go see it.

If you too soft and your panties are in a knot and your bra is still on the BBQ, go back to watching Oprah.

The Sims Medieval: A Review - Don't waste your money.

This is my review of Sims Medieval.

If you are considering buying or playing this game I highly recommend you don't. I just wasted a week of my time playing this game which has little to no custom content, little relationship interaction etc etc, only to find out once I had completed a certain level I had to START AGAIN!

In the same Kingdom layout...

With new Sims I had to recreate and relevel all over again using the same quests...

Fuck that shit.

If I wanted to play a repetetive game I'd play Bejewelled.

The Camera Man is Superior.

My boyfriend, for some inane reason, thoroughly enjoys Bear Grylls’ TV show – Man vs Wild.

After watching the show a couple of times, I’ve come to the conclusion the camera man is a far better “survivalist” than Bear.

After all – the camera man has to keep up with Bear, and more often than not move into position first in order to capture the footage of Bear whilst he traverses the terrain/cliff face/etc etc all whilst holding a camera.

Bear’s not looking so good now, is he?

A Bad Week

I apologise to all 5 people who read this, that I haven't updated all week. The last few days have been a bit rough, so here's a highlight from my old comic, Queen of Stealth:
